YERBA BUENA ISLAND HOUSING DEVELOPMENT
The project is a new residential development located on the hillside of Yerba Buena Island overlooking Treasure Island as well as San Francisco and the East Bay. Overseen by the Treasure Island Development Authority (TIDA), the project is part of the 405-acre redevelopment of Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island and includes approximately 31 new buildings situated for bay views. The buildings are designed for multiple styles and layouts of residences and include a midrise 6-story building called “The Bristol” with 124 modern residences, The Townhomes and the flats and an amenity building.
The project is part of the first phase of a 20-year, $5 billion plan to build 8,000 apartment units on Yerba Buena Island and Treasure Island.
MEYERS+ is providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection and technology engineering services in collaboration with BDE Architecture, Wilson Meany and Hart Howerton. Sustainability services such as energy modeling and renewable power system design & analysis are also provided by MEYERS+.
The project delivery method for the project is design-bid-build.
ENGINEERING FEATURES
The project features individual, owner-controlled systems for temperature and energy control.
The mid-rise building utilizes central domestic hot and cold water systems to leverage the building’s scale, whereas the flats and town homes have individual systems allowing for owner maintenance.
