Tiffany Qian
Building Performance Designer
For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved art and science equally. To me, both are rooted in the desire to observe, dissect, and understand the smaller details of the world around you. Engineering was the perfect cross-section between the two- the dedication to solving problems through design.
But there was a huge problem: there were so many different types of engineering, and I’ve always wanted to know (at least a little!) about everything. So, determined to give myself the broadest tools to tackle any problem, I studied both Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science at Columbia University. I began looking to apply myself to the concept of engineering for humanity, using my skills to find solutions to problems that would make the world better. Specifically, I found myself drawn to sustainability. This led me to join a building energy research lab, where I could apply both my mechanical knowledge and my coding abilities to research ways to optimize, analyze, and diversify building energy. I loved this cross-section of my skills and decided I wanted to continue that work after graduating. I’m excited to be starting that next leg of my journey at Meyers+, learning more about improving building energy and from everyone on the team!
Did you know?
Ask me what my current passion project is! I love doing all things crafts (from crocheting to sculpting to chainmail) and am always learning how to do and make new things. You can also usually find me playing some variation of minesweeper or solitaire in my free time.
