SUNNYSIDE STUDIOS

This 340,000 SF studio project located in Sunnyside, Queens, includes four large state-of-the-art stages with the capability of accommodating XR/VR. 

One of the stages is a flex space with views of Manhattan that can serve as an event space.  In addition to the stages, the project includes five floors of support spaces including a mill, commissary, production, office, underground parking, and full-size truck loading dock. 

MEYERS+ worked with East End Studios, Gluck+ Architects, and the other project consultants to carefully coordinate all MEP/FP services to achieve ultimate flexibility while adhering to strict noise and vibration tolerances.

ENGINEERING FEATURES

The studios are heated and cooled by rooftop units equipped with acoustic treatments including ultra-quiet condenser fans and a wrapped compressor section. Sound attenuators have been provided on the supply and return ductwork  to mitigate airborne noise. The placement of the  units was carefully coordinated with the structural engineer to minimize the transfer of vibration to the structure and to minimize the quantity of roof penetrations.   The low velocity ductwork internal to the studio has been coordinated with the roof trusses and the catwalks to allow for flexibility in both air distribution and personnel access.
