SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO CIVIC CENTER

The South San Francisco Community Civic Campus includes three separate buildings on an 8-acre site.

The project includes a library, exhibit spaces, social spaces, classrooms, dance studios, café, retail and staff offices for the Library, Parks and Recreation Department, City Council chambers and meeting space.  A new Police Station will house police administration, operations, investigations, support services, 911 emergency dispatch call center, and a firing range. A new Fire Station will be located at the southeast corner of Arroyo and Carnaritas.

The project is seeking LEED Gold Certification.

The project delivery method used is design-bid-build. MEYERS+ is the engineer of record for the project.

MEYERS+ provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing & fire protection, technology and energy modeling services.

ENGINEERING FEATURES

Both the Police and Fire Stations are designed as Essential Facilities to remain operational in the event of a major disaster, such as an earthquake.

The HVAC system strategy for the library is to maximize cooling via outside air; including a naturally-ventilated pre-function gallery space that wraps the council chambers.
