SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - TERMINAL 3 WEST

The project is the expansion and modernization of Terminal 3 West (T3 West) at San Francisco International Airport and includes Boarding Area F and International Boarding Area G Secure Connector.

The modernized terminal will increase international operational flexibility, implement a world-class concession program and complement the Boarding Area E and T3 East passenger experience. MEP systems will be expanded and upgraded.

The project is targeting LEED Gold certification.

The project delivery method is Contractor Design– Build. Core trade mechanical and electrical subcontractors were brought on board at the end of schematic design. M+ services include the Stakeholder Engagement Process during the programming phase, development of the Basis of Implementation and peer reviews in subsequent design and construction administration phases.

MEYERS+ is providing mechanical, electrical, energy modeling and sustainability services.

ENGINEERING FEATURES

The building is designed to contribute to SFO’s goal for a net-zero carbon campus, including  integration with heat recovery central plant, displacement ventilation, radiant heating + cooling, low-energy lighting design, and extensive use of electrochromic glazing to mitigate solar heat gains and glare while maximizing views and use of natural lighting.

M+ is coordinating the replacement of a main 12 kV substation and load centers and the addition of new load centers and an emergency generator while keeping the Terminal and  Boarding Area F operational.
