Robel Habtemariam, PE
Senior Mechanical Engineer

I was born and raised in Asmara, the capital city of Eritrea. As a child, I was always curious about science and how things worked, particularly flying objects. It is because of this curiosity; physics became my favorite subject in high school, and I remembered spending hours in solving problems and understanding the science behind different governing laws and principles. When I joined University, I had to decide between majoring in Physics and Mechanical Engineering. I decided to go with engineering and turned out to be the best decision I have ever made. Upon graduation from Asmara University, I took the role of teaching assistant in the university, and I really enjoyed working with young and energetic students. In 2014, I left my home country for the first time to continue my education and enrolled in the Master’s Program at the China-EU Institute for Clean and Renewable Energy (ICARE). After two years of hard work and dedication, I got my double M.Sc degree from Mines ParisTech, France and Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

In 2017 I moved to the United States and worked for a few months in a gas station while searching for a professional job and taking HVAC classes in the UC Berkeley extension program. One of the instructors of the program helped me to get connected with Golden Gate ASHRAE organization and that’s where I got my first job offer as a mechanical engineer. Five years later, here I am at MEYERS+ living in the Bay Area enjoying the beautiful weather.

I am thrilled to join MEYERS+ and look forward to working on exciting projects that define the current state of art in HVAC with sustainability and energy efficiency in mind.

Did you know?

I am a huge fan of soccer. Over the weekend either I am watching the English Premier League, watching science and history documentary films, or hiking somewhere to appreciate the beauty of the land.
