Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer - NY

MEYERS+ ENGINEERS is seeking a Plumbing / Fire Protection Engineer to join our New York City office and work on world class design projects with a leading MEP design firm in the architectural engineering consulting industry.  We are looking for a technically proficient and seasoned engineer with experience delivering complex projects.  The ideal candidate will have a passion for architecture and engineering related to the design and construction of highly sustainable, high performance innovative, and iconic buildings. 

Job Description:
The following job description is a general summary of duties typically performed in this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize sustainable plumbing and fire protection systems and communicate design options to clients and all stakeholders

  • Develop high quality plumbing & fire protection systems construction documents

  • Perform engineering calculations for water resource load analysis

  • Prepare plumbing & fire protection technical specifications

  • Prepare building due diligence and assessment reports to describe existing systems and plumbing / fire protection design options.

  • Participate with the MEP team in construction administration activities including on-site field observation, punch list reports, contractor coordination, RFI’s, and cost estimate review.

  • Provide mentorship, training, and development for junior staff.

  • Develop client relationships through successful coordination and demonstration of excellence on project work

  • Inspire and motivate staff

  • Experience working on a variety of building types through all phases of a project from schematic design through construction administration

  • Excellent communications skills to enable successful in-person dialogue and relationships with owners, architects, and other consultants

  • Desire for project management roles where you can lead and manage MEP project teams successfully

  • Excellent written skills in the form of engineering reports and technical analysis

  • Effective knowledge of the NYC Building Code and NFPA Codes

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, HASS

  • Engineering calculations and performance simulation software

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering

  • 5+ Years' Experience

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)

  • LEED Accreditation
