My family has always been the center of my orbit. Whether it was Brooklyn, Central New Jersey, or Northern New Jersey, we have always lived within a one-mile radius of each other. Through their support I found my first passion: anything with a motor. Starting with begging to help cut the grass, to attempting to convert the weed trimmer into a motorized scooter, which led to a childhood of riding ATVs, and then eventually upgrading to my first car. Once I was able to drive, my teenage job was for a furniture restoration company where I discovered another passion, fixing broken things. I would always question how assembly pieces would function and find it fascinating how the small steps came together to produce the final product. The combination of these two passions guided me to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering from Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey. During college I struggled for months to secure the right internship for my passions, until one morning after a phone interview with WSP, formerly Flack + Kurtz. Fearful, excited, and completely unaware of the large-scale AEC industry, I jumped in. Today, I am happy to say that I am still swimming. Over the course of a career you learn, and will continue to learn, so many life lessons. One of which is the importance of people. In joining Meyers+, I am extremely grateful to say that I am still following the same leaders and mentors who had given me a chance directly out of college.
Did you know?
A psychic once told a family member of mine that I would build “aqua ducts” for a “great empire”. As an eerie coicendence, here I am designing major water and air distribution systems in the Empire State and across the country.
