Building Performance Designer

About This Position:

MEYERS+ ENGINEERS is seeking an exceptional candidate to join our Building Performance Team in San Francisco and embark on a career in the architectural engineering consulting industry. The role focuses on issues of energy and carbon efficiency but is also a multidisciplinary role addressing a wide range of issues of building performance such as daylight, thermal comfort, and air quality. MEYERS+ is looking for a communicative person who is comfortable in a collaborative workspace, liaising with colleagues and clients on complex building design solutions. The ideal candidate will have a passion for architecture and engineering related to the design and construction of highly sustainable, innovative, high performing, and iconic buildings.

Your first year in the firm will include learning a range of building modeling and analysis tools and techniques, and how to clearly and succinctly communicate the findings to our clients and colleagues.  You will use these tools to inform strategies that will: lower energy consumption and carbon emissions, with strong foundations in both ASHRAE and Title 24 energy modeling techniques; generate renewable energy; provide ample daylight while minimizing risks of glare; improve occupant thermal comfort; improve indoor air quality; drive occupant health, wellness, and productivity outcomes; and improve water efficiency and reuse non-potable water sources.

At MEYERS+ you will receive the best education in the architectural engineering industry in order to advance your career and become an integral contributor to our firm. We do this by having you work directly with our Principals, who are industry leaders, and will guide you through your progression as an engineer.  You will quickly gain experience in the design of a wide range of building types, ranging from commercial office and residential buildings to civic buildings and entertainment venues. You will quickly gain insight into Title 24 (the California state energy code), ASHRAE standards, LEED, WELL, and other certifications.  As you learn and progress your technical skills, you will be mentored in client communication and quickly have opportunity for direct participation in client meetings as a representative of MEYERS+.
