Position: Electrical Designer 

MEYERS+ ENGINEERS is seeking an Electrical Designer to join our San Francisco office and work on world class design projects with a leading MEP design firm in the architectural engineering consulting industry.  We are looking for a communicative person that is comfortable in a collaborative workspace, liaising with colleagues and clients on complex building design solutions. The ideal candidate will have a passion for architecture and engineering related to the design and construction of highly sustainable, innovative, high performing and iconic buildings.   

Job Description: 

The following job description is a general summary of duties typically performed in this position. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Work with other engineers to produce drawings utilizing both AutoCAD and Revit Design platforms.  

  • Gain experience working on projects from the design phase through construction.  

  • Coordinate electrical systems with our architectural clients, both onsite and in office.  

  • Visit project sites to conduct performance site surveys and interface with contractors to ensure the building construction is per design.  

  • Work directly with staff of all levels, including Principals and Associate Principals.  

  • Gain experience designing power distribution systems, panel equipment sizing, fire alarm system design, LEED documentation, medium voltage distribution design, solar PV design, field surveying and building assessments.  

Key Competencies & Skills: 

  • Excellent math skills to apply in the form of engineering calculations (load calculations, short circuit calculations, generator sizing, voltage drop, Title 24 compliance forms)  

  • Excellent communications skills to enable successful in-person dialogue and relationships with owners, architects, and other consultants. 

  • Excellent written skills to apply in the form of engineering reports and technical analysis.  

  • Effective knowledge of and ability to research and apply the National Electrical Code, California Building Code, and NFPA Codes. 

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills. 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering or pursuing such degree with a graduation date of Fall 2022 or Spring 2023.  

  • EIT certification (preferred, not required)
