Abigail Jones
Mechanical Design Engineer

Growing up in Seattle, I found a love for the outdoors at a very young age. My dad would take me and my sister camping almost every other weekend in the Summer where we explored the deep woods and islands in the surrounding area. I still remember the feeling of waking up in the morning with the birds chirping and the smell of morning dew as you walked outside the tent. As I grew older, I realized how special that was and I knew I had to do something to try and save those beautiful, lush forests.

As well as a love for being outside, I also loved to rummage through our recycling bin, finding boxes to make the next “house” for one of my pets. Whether it was for my chicks, my cats (one of whom just moved in with me in his old days), or my second-grade class hamster, I loved building and designing these little rooms to match the pets needs.

While attending college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, a major in mechanical engineering with a focus in sustainability provided a way to combine my love for sustainability and design as well as the science of physics and math. I am very fortunate to be starting my career at Meyers+ and to have the opportunity to work with like-minded people at a job that hits the triple point: science, sustainability, and design.

Did you know?

I used to play competitive soccer on the Seattle Reign academy team until college. I would travel one to two times a month around the western half of the US for a weekend match. Unfortunately, life forced me to decide between my love for engineering and soccer, but I hope to find a team around SF soon!
